What are some stereotypes about Bucknell students?

One sterotype of Bucknell is that all the students are snobby rich kids from New York or New Jersey, who wear expensive clothes and drive expensive cars.

There is a lack of diversity.

Are the stereotypes accurate?

While there are plenty of snobby rich kids, I think that the majority of students are not.

There is less diveristy on this campus then other campuses, but Bucknell is making a huge effort to recruiting students from all walks of life.

Bucknell: The Big Picture

The Best thinig about Bucknell is the attmosphere, we are a small tight knitt community, although one thing I would change is the amount of diversity.
For me, Bucknell is just the right size, not too large or too small.
When I tell people that I got to Bucknell, they have either not heard of it or very impressed.
When I am on campus, I spend most of my time doing school work and then hanging out with my friends.
Lewisburg is definitly a college town, there is main with lots of cool shops, most of the professors live in town and the community really supports the school.
The biggest controvery, I think has been back in September when someone (a townie, not a student) painted a swasitka on outside wall of our Student Union Center.
There is a ton of school pride at Bucknell, everyone has tons of Bucknell appearal and comes to Basketball games in full force.

Bucknell Academic Life

By the end of the semester, most of my professors will know my name since most of the classes max out at 20 students. It mght be harder in a class with closer to 100 students like an intro level science class like Biology.

My favorite class and most unique class was called "Fatal Attractions". It was a 18th century lit and delt with topics such as Libertines, Gothic Novels and sexuality in Literature. My professor loved teaching these topics and was so enthusiastic, even at 8am.

Bucknell's Student Body

What students tend to wear to differs with each person. Some girls overdress in dresses and heels , while some guys come to class in sweatpants and a t-shirt. I usually wear jeans, a nice top, either flipflops or my chucks and some matching jewelry. I don't want to over dress, but I still want to look nice.

Students are politicaly aware and active here at Bucknell. There are voter registration drives and both the Conservative club and Campus Democrates publish their own newspapers and bring speakers to campus.

Bucknell Student Activities + Social Life

The most popular groups on campus is Greek Life. Greek Life is very important at Bucknell, with over 50% of upperclassmen are greek (freshmen can't rush). Most of the parties during the weekend are Frat parties, but not being greek doesn't hurt your soical life. Some people join to drink, I joined a sorority for the sisterhood. Joining Chi Omega has definitly been one of the best desisons I have made while at Bucknell. I have new and larger group of friends. We are active on campus through community service and philanthrophy, we support each other and are very proud to wear our letters.

If drinking is not your scene, then Bucknell offers tons of activites to do on Friday and Saturday nights. There are awesome bands (Plain White T's, The Ataris!), comeidens, themed bingo nights and trivia nights, pool tourdaments and movies. There is always something to do.

Basketball games are very popular here and tickets tend to sell out. Guest speakers are also heavily attended. Last year Bill Nye the Science Guy came to speak and the line streched across campus.

The best thing about Bucknell is our professors. They are not only incredibly intelligent, as one would expect professors at an institution with Bucknell's reputation to be, but are also...

One thing that Bucknell emphasizes, and fits me quite well, is balance in many different regions of life. It is fairly rare that a student's activities are concentrated in only...
