That the people who go here are rich and party hard all of the time.

Well, yes, BUT there are plenty of people that DON'T fit in to this stereotype. First off, most people, even the partiers, want to do well academically because they want great jobs doing what they want to and making the kind of money they want to make. Second, there are plenty of people here on mostly scholarship, so there are plenty of people that will want to do things that are tons of fun but don't cost you tons of cash. And believe it or not, there are in fact people that don't start the party on Thursday night and keep going 'till Monday morning. It's easy to find (perfectly normal) people that party moderately or not at all, so there will always be people to hang out with no matter what your scene is.

I came to Lewisburg from New York City, so it was really a very dramatic change. I was worried at first that I wouldn't like living in the middle of nowhere PA, but I found that the fact that there isn't really much outside of Bucknell to be more of a bonus than a problem. Because there is so little off campus, everyone lives on or very close to the school, so your friends are always there and there is ALWAYS something going on. Usually, this something is free. There aren't so few people that everyone knows everyone else's business, but there aren't so many people that you are overwhelmed and don't feel like a community.

Logic with professor Fleming is perhaps the most fantastic class I've ever taken. He has been teaching it for decades and I believe that his class is truly part of the Bucknell experience. He has a dry sarcastic sense of humor which he demonstrates often, but he really knows his stuff and draws students in. There are many students who get a philosophy minor which is really a minor in Fleming, because they just take all four of his regularly offered courses.
Students here don't always seem like it, but are mostly very smart and interested in their fields. They didn't come here just to party or because it was convenient (it certainly isn't cheap). If a student chooses Bucknell, it is because they want to do well in their lives, so they are committed to not screwing up and throwing away all of that money.
My major is Animal Behavior, which is what I came to the school for. It is a truly phenomenal program. There are three species of primate on campus and tons of other animals that the different professors work with, or that are used in the labs. This semester, I started working with one of the grad students on her study of post-conflict behavior in our Hamadryas baboons. I get to go to a lunch almost every Friday where faculty present research that they have been conducting in the field of animal behavior and discuss their work with us.

Bucknell is the most fantastic college that I could imagine and even though I certainly don't fit into the "norm" here, I couldn't be happier
