Central Michigan: The Big Picture
Central Michigan does have a pretty big reputation as a party school. When you tell people you go to school here, you can get a wide variety of responses. From oh, I went to some really sweet parties there back in the day, to oh, well some of my friends went there, but I went to _______. It all kind of depends. You can find a party almost any night of the week, and just like the other big schools, MSU for example has Grand River as the party street, CMU has Main Street. The parties get wild and you rarely can walk the streets without running into an officer. But all in all it is a pretty good place to recieve and education. I mean, at least its not Western.... :)
Central Michigan Academic Life
The classes aren't too terrible. People don't usually study until the night before an exam and seem to do fairly decent. Personally I can study a few days before my tests and be fine. But there are some people who have to start extra early to get a passing grade. If its for a class that you don't really care about then chances are you can skate by with a C for minimal effort on your part.
You are probably more like to hear a conversation about the party in Deerfield last weekend walking down the sidewalk than the Schrodinger Wave Equation, but hey... It's college.
Central Michigan's Student Body
The student bods is very diverse you can get to know all different kinds of people as long as you are willing to open up. The financial backgrounds of the students here really varies, you can meet anyone from the rich kids from the suburbs to the inner city child.
Central Michigan Student Activities + Social Life
The greek life on campus is a pretty big thing, a lot of people participate and they have some events that make an impact on campus. But if you aren't interested or if it just isn't for you, don't worry there are plenty of other things to get involved in such as honoraries for your department or any of the other numerous groups on campus.
People party a lot. You can almost guarantee to find something to do any night of the week if you know the right people. You have to be willing to put yourself out there and get to know people and you are certain to have a good time.
