Colleges in District Of Columbia

Going to college in Washington, D.C., the nation’s influential capital is a special experience. This is an internationally diverse place, with over 20, 000 international students studying in D.C. every year. There are many prestigious colleges located in Washington D.C. including George Washington University, Georgetown University, American University and Howard University. Many of these schools are located on the US News & World Reports list of top colleges. There’s also Strayer University, which is the largest university in D.C.

Washington D.C. is also home to the National Defense University which is maintained by The Department of Defense. Another specialty school is Gallaudet University, the first college for the deaf. As for public schools, the University of the District of Columbia is the public university of Washington, D.C.
