Hundreds of islands make up the state of Hawaii, but the majority of colleges and universities in Hawaii are located in the city of Honolulu on the island of Oahu. There are approximately 25 public and private schools in Hawaii, many of which are part of the public University of Hawaii system. The University of Hawaii system oversees three universities, two of which are located in Oahu. University of Hawaii –Manoa is very high ranked and have been named one of the best colleges in the West. This school also offers over 80 bachelors and masters programs.
Private college choices in Hawaii include Brigham Young University – Hawaii, Chaminade University of Honolulu and University of Nations. Another strong private college option is Hawaii Pacific University, which is a good choice for students looking for a smaller college experience.
