Florida is primarily known for its famous oranges, beautiful beaches and abundant sunshine. However, impressively, there are also over 500 colleges and universities to choose from. Florida has a public university system with 11 colleges spread throughout the state. Two of the most notable schools in the UF system are The University of Florida – Gainesville and Florida State University in Tallahassee. There’s also group of 28 private colleges in Florida called the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida, ICUF, including the prestigious Rollins College and the University of Miami.
Florida is also home to a strong community college program and has over 20 campuses throughout the state, the largest being Miami Dade College. Other community college options include Broward College and the College of Central Florida.
