There are over 50 colleges and universities in Nebraska, the Great Plains State, as well as a strong big business presence and a booming agricultural marketplace. Many of the colleges are located in the cities of Omaha or the state capital of Lincoln, including the University of Nebraska – Omaha and the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, which is the flagship school. They are both ranked among the best colleges in the US. Notably, Nebraska has two public sets of colleges, the University of Nebraska system and the Nebraska State Colleges.
There are a great deal of private colleges in Nebraska, the most prestigious being Doane College, Nebraska Wesleyan University and Creighton, known for its stellar basketball. There are also many community colleges and religiously affiliated colleges in Nebraska.
