South Carolina offers a choice of over 100 colleges and universities, both public and private, in various cities throughout the state. One of the most prestigious schools is the public Clemson University that has ranked on the US News & World Reports list of best colleges. Another popular public college is South Carolina University, with a main campus in Columbia and seven campuses throughout the state.
Many of the colleges in South Carolina have a deep history, including the College of Charleston, which is the 13th oldest institution of higher learning in the US. There’s also the Citadel Military College of South Carolina, with both male and female cadets that trains students for academic and military excellence. Other educational options include vocational focused schools such as Greenville Technical College and Midlands Technical College.
