Colleges in Maryland

With over 100 colleges and universities in Maryland, there are options for everyone. The majority of the colleges are located in the Baltimore-Washington metro area. One of the top colleges in the state is the private highly selective college Johns Hopkins University (JHU), which is often ranked on the lists of top colleges in the US. The University of Maryland-Baltimore is the oldest of the public colleges in the University of Maryland system, which is compromised of 13 campuses. The main campus is located in College Park, Maryland and is considered the flagship university in the system.

Other notable colleges in Maryland include the public Towson University and the United States Naval Academy, located in Annapolis. There’s also the private Jesuit school, Loyola University Maryland. Washington D.C. also has a plethora of strong college choices.
