Colleges in Vermont Johnson

A New England state with beautiful scenery, mountain ranges and an eco-conscious population, there are over 25 colleges and universities in Vermont. While most of the schools are private, the University of Vermont-Burlington is top ranked and the largest school in the state with over 11,000 students. Another public school is the Community College of Vermont, where students can receive 2-year career oriented degrees. Vermont’s largest city is Burlington, and there are other schools located here as well, including the private Chaplain College and Burlington College.

The private Middlebury College is one of the highest ranked colleges in the US and the highest in the state and is known for its writing conference, Breadloaf. Norwich University, the oldest private military college in the US is also located in Vermont and was the birthplace of ROTC.
