For the most part everybody is pretty nice here. We have our fair share of douchebags and spoiled brats, but almost everybody you meet will greet you with a smile. That being said, a lot of the people here are not too bright.

If all you are worried about is having a good time, then CMU might be a good choice. Theres enough going on during the weekend to have fun. The classes are not too hard either, but this is probably because they are catered to a less intelligent group. CMU really doesn't discriminate who it takes in, and this becomes really apparent in small classes. A lot of my classmates are idiots. And the administration treats the students like children.

tl;dr: if you wanna have fun, Central will give you a decent time. But don't expect to get the best education.

The academics here are a joke. Every class is dumbed down, its amazing that anybody would fail out of this college. The school only cares about making money, not providing quality education. About half of the professors care about the students, and if you are lucky enough to get into one of their classes you might learn something. But a lot of the professors don't give a shit and you probably won't learn anything useful in their classes.

For the most part all of the students are really friendly. I have met a lot of good people in my time here at CMU. Whether you're in class, on campus, or at a party, chances are you will make a lot of friends.

There are a lot of student RSO's at CMU. The greek system is decent, but is not supported by the school at all. The dorms can be hit and miss, some of them are really open and lively while others are really quiet and closed off. There's a big volunteer program, and alternative breaks seem to be a big hit with students.
