Party animals, it's true and not true. I'd say the split is 50/50 and that's the same at most Universities I've seen.
I like how big it is and how that helps you network. I'd change the acceptance process and make it based on high school performance, there is a wide range of academic abilities here and it's almost too wide. I spend most of my time in the library or the campus food places doing work. It's definitely a college town, populated with mostly college-aged people. There isn't really anything unusual or huge controversies. The most frequent complaints are regarding class picking and grading.
It all depends on the classes, teachers, and how seriously you take school. A's aren't impossible, but some classes are much easier than others. I think it's like every school in this sense, it comes down to major, level, and professor.
Since the school is so large there's a wide range of students. We're unfortunately known for our partying and I'd say a majority of students do fit that bill. The girls have low self-esteem and are incredibly materialistic and the boys don't think through their actions. There are pretty much every type of group here, somewhere. There are party people, nerds, stoners, political activists, hippies, studious students, everything so there isn't really one group to zero in on or use to represent the school.
Like most school financial background ranges, college in general tends to be upper-middle class I guess.
I wouldn't say anything is more popular than anything else because there are so many groups and so many people. I guess hockey may be relatively big, and football as well just because they're sports and school sports tend to draw the most attention. To say how important fraternities/sororities, what events happen, what is there to do on the weekend is completely subjective. It's like every other school, just bigger.
