NYU is extremely diverse. Students come from all over the country and world. So, with that alone, people are all different based upon their home-state. I would say that there are some Frat guys from time to time, not very many. I think the biggest thing here is what school you go to -- CAS, Stern, Steinhardt, Gallatin, Tisch, etc. We probably have EVERY type of stereotype that you can think of...

Basically, I'm glad I'm here.

Some of the greatest things here are that it's within and throughout the city, there are SO many opportunities here because of it (job-wise, activity-wise, socially...), you'll meet tons of different people from all over the world, it never gets boring, and you'll always be impressed by your classmates.

I like the size. It's big enough to always be meeting new people, but the classes are small enough to get to know them.

People are really interested to hear stories, when they find out where I go to school. I think that it's publicized enough, that they want to know what it's really like.

I spend a lot of time in the Kimmel building, it's a more casual place to just relax and study. Take breaks between classes. Otherwise, I'm constantly in the Silver building for most of my classes.

Since we're based in the city, we don't really have an official "campus," but I think some consider Washington Square Park to be our campus. But really, Greenwich or all of Manhattan is our campus.

Administration is very helpful as far as jobs go. They want you to succeed. But man, is it complicated. There are many resources, you just have to figure out where to go.

I don't think that there are many controversies? It's pretty much what other schools have. Kids get stressed out with the big and constant competition. Most people were the best at something in high school, so coming here... everyone else was too. It definitely humbles you. But that's the biggest "issue" I see. Kids falling under stress.

I'd say there's a lot of school pride. People want to be here.

Everything here is unusual. Haha. There is no norm.

Hm, well academics are tough to describe, since they differ greatly, depending on what school you're in and which major you are. But I will answer for my experiences:

Classes can range from like six kids to over five hundred. I've been in a little classroom, and a giant lecture stage. Professors do however, try to remember your name. They are usually pretty approachable, and give office hours to visit them for questions, comments, or just to talk. Students are pretty competitive. I mean, we help each other out, since we're all in the same boat. But at the end of the day, every man for himself. So you have to take care of yourself. I like to study by myself in different places, but a lot of my friends go to Bobst and study. Study groups are definitely helpful for some classes though. You meet friends through classes a lot of the time.

Yeah, I'd say that many students have intellectual conversations outside of class. I mean, not all conversations are intellectually challenging, but certainly everyone is capable of having them.

I'm studying English, and honestly I love it. It's really tough to say that last part, sometimes, because right now it's kicking my butt. But I chose it because I like it. I would say almost every major is hard. There is always challenge. There are sleepless nights, days I'm strung out, and constant work flow. NYU also likes everyone to have knowledge on a little bit of everything, so the requirements are extensive.

I've been told that like ninety-something percent of students get jobs right out of college. The Wasserman Center is super helpful and does a great deal in assisting with that.

All in all, school's tough. But it's worth it.

Like I said before, everyone is from everywhere. I've met people from very different backgrounds: European, Asian, Middle-Eastern, Canadian, gay, straight, bi, wealthy, working class, Christian, Muslim, Atheist, etc. Seriously, I can't tell you how many different people you'll meet.

You can't feel out of place, unless you REALLY want a close campus base. Or if you want to live in a rural place...

Students wear whatever they want. Really. Catwalk, to sweats. '

1. Dorms: I've met some of my closest friends through dorming. I think this was the best way to meet people. I mean, what better way to meet people than where you live? It provided a set social scene that was always available to you, since you're already in it.

2. Clubs: Religious, LGBT, sports, food, Greeks... I'm in a Christian fellowship, a co-ed fraternity, and I've been part of other clubs over the years. They provide good communities to make friends with. You've already found one big thing in common, if you're in the same club, after all.

3. Dating: Hm... you'll definitely meet tons of people, but I'd say the dating scene can be a challenge in the city.

A social life in the city and at NYU is however YOU make it. Since you're in a school that's in a city, with no real campus, you must be active in order to have a social life. You must be pro-active. Otherwise, the city can be a really lonely place. Otherwise, the opportunities are endless.

Depends on your study style.

If you're looking for some noise, and movement:

1. Certain floors of Bobst Library: Never too loud. Just some chatter.

2. Kimmel: It's more relaxed. For students to just chill, study, have little club meetings, whatever.

3. Cafes: Music, free wifi, people.

If you need quiet:

1. The other floors of Bobst: Each floor has specified noise levels. Some are totally silent.

2. Home/Dorms: Comfortable and pretty quiet. There are some study rooms for dorms.

1. I'm from the west coast, and I thought changing the scenery would be fun.

2. It's in one of the greatest cities in the world.

3. I knew there would be so many opportunities in the city.

4. The programs here are infinite, and completely doable (like studying abroad).

Eh. If you're looking for a BIG sports school, NYU may not be the right school for you. Due to our unconventional campus, there isn't going to be home football games, or anything.

There are sports teams, however, if you are looking for an extracurricular. People are definitely athletic. It's just not big as a school thing compared to everything else. There are also intramurals for people who don't want the commitment.

There are quite a few dining halls. I think that most are actually pretty good. They always have a selected variety, and there are plenty of options for those who have different diets. The food is not too shabby.

And... you're in NYC. There's food EVERYWHERE. Most of it's fantastic.
