    • What is your overall opinion of this school?

I feel that Tufts is the perfect campus. It is divided into 2 schools: the school of liberal arts (about 1000 per grade) and the school of engineering (about 200 per grade). This gives you the perfect mix of liberal arts and engineering students and personalities. It also gives you a wider variety of classes to choose from. The campus itself has around 5000 undergraduate students with about 4000 graduate students. One of my favorite things about the campus is that it is actually a campus. Everything is located really close together with only a few main roads running through or by the campus. It is also a short drive or even short train (T) ride from Boston itself.

I grew up in Mass so I know what the weather is like and I love it out here. In the winter it gets cold and snows enough for you to go sleding on campus (the whole campus is on a hill). If you want to go skiing it is a pretty short drive up to NH, VT, or Maine. In the spring and the fall the weather is perfect. I hate the heat and it never seems to get too hot (unless you are here in the summer).

    • What are the academics like at your school?

I'm not going to lie. The school is hard. Engineers pretty much need to take 5 classes (or 5 full credits) a semester and liberal arts students need to take 4. There are a lot of very hard classes and only a handful of those easy classes you want to take to boost your GPA. That being said, you are actually learning a lot and getting a good education. Even in classes that I bombed I still come out learning a lot of interesting stuff. Plus the fact that there are the 2 schools gives you a huge range of classes to chose from. Like I said before, I'm an engineer but I still took a psych 55: Human Sexual Behavior (or "sex class" as I called it) and it was awesome. Companies and employers know that this is a hard school too. A lot of places recruit at Tufts and some other NESCAC schools.

A lof of professors actually do know me by name. It's nice because you will take classes with the same professor a few times if they are in your major. Because of this, they do get to know you by name and thats helpful. They will also make fun of me for my stupid haircuts that I rock at the end of the swim season before I shave my head.

    • Describe the students at your school.

Tufts is pretty diverse which is sweet because there is always going to be a group of friends for any type of person. Like if you don't want to go out and party all the time then you don't have to. There are plenty of people who would rather be doing other things. Everyone is pretty smart and aware of whats going on in the news and the world. Politically, its a liberal campus (what college isnt) but there are still plenty of republicans (gotta represent). I don't know much about the gay community but I do have a few gay friends and they seem to have a great time. There are plenty of organizations to get involved in too. I'm party of lecture series which plans and decides what celebrities come to speak.

Everyone is really friendly too which I found surprising. Everyone is up to meet new people and give them a chance. I have friends in all 4 classes (or years or whatever) so it doesn't matter if you are a freshman, you can still click which someone who is, say, a junior.

    • What are the most popular student activities/groups?

There is a lot to do in the Tufts area / in Boston so having a good time is never a problem. Generally on the weekends, which start on Thursday night, people go out and party. We do drink a lot which is horrible for our kidneys but awesome for everything else. You can go to a local bar or to a frat and just live the dream. I have some friends that don't drink but they still come out to the parties and play drinking games with water or soda or get me to drink their beers for them.

We have something like 8 frats and 3 sororites and 1 co-ed fraternity. Sororites cannot have parties but frats certainly can. The co-ed frat is actually just a frat but has girls that live in the house and are members. Its a dump so no one cares if you throw beer on someone, or on the floor, or piss in a corner.

The food is really good too. There are plenty of places where you can order from late at night. I actually like the dining hall food which is suppose to be some of the best in the country. Its nice because the dining halls are open straight from like 7:30 am to 9:00 pm or something like that. Most schools have dead blocks where the dining hall isn't open like at 3:00 in the afternoon which is just stupid.

Oh yeah. And when people party, people hook up. Problem solved right? Although yes there arn't that many hot girls and from what my girl friends tell me not that many hot guys but there are still some smoke shows and everyone is actually really cool. Ive never had a problem.

    • What is the stereotype of students at your school?

That we have a lot of international students, are all nerds and don't know how to party / have a good time, and that our sports teams are garbage. Oh, and that it is a saftey school for the kids that didn't get into an Ivy league school.

    • Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

The only one that is true is the strong international presence. Tufts is known for being a very diverse school. We certainly know how to have fun though. I was supprised by party scene because I believed the stereotypes. I couldn't have been more wrong. Plus our sports teams are actually really good. The football team has suffered in the past but its getting a lot better and a lot of teams are either 1st or 2nd in the conference. And most of the Ivy league schools are crap. I wanted to go to Tufts and I applied early decision. Sure there are some good Ivys but c'mon...Cornell? Those weirdos at Brown?

    • Here’s your chance: Say anything about your college!

Tufts is actually pretty dope. I really could not see myself anywhere else. Some of the athletic facilities are pieces of garbage though like the pool or the weight room but there is a new pool scheduled to be finished in like 2015 or something and they are redoing the weight room. Our indoor track is really nice and the outdoor fields are pefect. There are also fields around campus that are great for going out to play a pickup game of football or throw a frisbee around or just lay out in the sun.

Just remember, it's Boston. So bear with the accents and our crazy vocab like bubbler, or pronouncing Oregon like it's spelled Oregone.

Plus Boston sports teams are just better than everyone else's. And I hate New York. Its worthless.
