College Review What is your overall opinion of this school? The best thing about Northwestern is the balance between academics and school spirit. The "work hard, party hard" mentality applies pretty well. I like the size, it allows for intimacy. People are impressed when I tell them I go to Northwestern. What are the academics like at your school? Professors rarely know my name. My favorite class is the Presidency because the topic is interesting and my teacher is really logical and intelligent. My least favorite is Intro to Fiction because the professor was annoying and repeated himself a lot. Participation is common. Not very diversified, though we pretend. Most students are left and upper class. The most popular groups are the fraternities and sororities. I am involved with Mock Trial and I love it. Such a great experience. Students leave doors open sometimes to interact. Football games are highly attended, but basketball games are not. If I'm awake at 2 am, I'm at Clarke's or writing a paper. Northwestern, sometimes known as "Nerdwestern," has hard-working and over-ambitious students. Not much of a social life for those who choose to go to NU. Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate? It does get cold, but there is a social scene at NU. It may not be Wisconsin, but the composition of the student body is such that it amounts to the perfect balance of social life and hard work.
