    • What is your overall opinion of this school?

When I tell people back home that I go to Tulane, they just look at me blankly until I explain. For my personal preferences, Tulane is a little too big (but it's small compared to most universities). Tulane's president is a great guy- he's one of the reasons why I came here. Unfortunately, his ability and dedication do not extend to most of the other administrators. New Orleans is a wonderful city, but Tulane is like a bubble of rich kids that is completely separate from the city.

    • What are the academics like at your school?

Most of the classes I have taken so far have been generic and quite frankly, boring. The classes are so big that you have to go out of the way to get to know your professors, and most of them won't remember you if you introduce yourselves anyway. The education is probably geared toward getting a job, but I don't feel like I am learning anything along the way. I have yet to experience an intelligent conversation with my peers outside of class (except for with my friends who have already transferred).

    • Describe the students at your school.

Being in New Orleans, you might think there would be a fair amount of diversity on campus. Not true. The majority of the population are rich white kids from California, Florida, or New York. I am here on a significant scholarship, and I come from a family of lower socio-economic status. I enjoy reading, watching movies, trying new restaurants, and going out dancing at clubs occasionally. I feel VERY out of place here. I cannot keep up with the alcohol-based social life here- I can't afford it, and I'm not interested in it. To sum it up, one of the girls on my floor was telling her roommate that Obama was coming to speak here, and she said "Aren't they looking for him?! Does the president know about this?!"

    • What are the most popular student activities/groups?

The Greek life is extremely prevalent on campus. If you're not Greek, you're a nobody. People party every night of the week, well into the morning. In fact, I know people who just stay drunk all day so they never have to experience the dreaded hangover. I've found it really difficult to meet people who want more than a drinking buddy or just sex. There are lots of things to do off campus on the weekends, but you'll probably be doing them alone if you're not drinking.

    • What is the stereotype of students at your school?

Some say that Harvard is the "Tulane of the north", and that Tulane is filled with intelligent and motivated students. A big draw is the proclaimed dedication to service and working in the New Orleans community.
