    • What is your overall opinion of this school?

I personally love the Columbia campus. Because we are located in New York City, it's very hard to find a patch of grass save for the Great Lawn in Central Park, but who wants to venture that far away from home when you need to study and merely want sunshine? The great thing about the Columbia campus is that we have our own grassy areas right in the middle of NYC! Whenever it is a nice day out, I spend as much time as I can sitting on our lawn in the middle of campus either studying or hanging out with friends. It's a perk that Columbia has over NYU and other schools in the city.

    • What are the academics like at your school?

My favorite class that I have taken in my time at Columbia was called Sex and Gender in Ancient Greece. We studied the different ways both sex and gender were seen in the society in ancient Greece through the use of medical texts, legal documents, novels, poetry, and artifacts, among other resources. My final paper compared the story of the Immaculate Conception to the stories of the Greek gods raping mortal women who would then have "hero" children.

    • Describe the students at your school.

In terms of dress, Columbia is very mixed. You have your preppy polo popped collar kids but then you also have those who wear ripped jeans and old band t-shirts. Everyone is relatively diverse because Columbia is not your typical Ivy League school. You have students who want to be at Columbia for the Ivy education but you also have students who are at Columbia merely to be in New York City. I personally am friends with a diverse crowd as well. Between my friends on the Fed, which is Columbia's alternative paper and is mostly comprised of people who are also in Columbia's theater life; my sorority, which is filled with lovely, and also a diverse mix of girls from different backgrounds; and then my involvement in Columbia's Jewish community, I really see many different aspects of campus life.

    • What are the most popular student activities/groups?

I joined my sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, first semester my freshman year. My sisters have truly become my family; I live with girls from my sorority (and not in the Sorority housing), when I need someone to talk to, I go to my sisters, and I spend most of my free time with them as well. My big sister is the person I always go to for advice, and she is always there for me. We have sisterhood events like going to see the Martha Stewart Show, and we have library time where we all go to the library once a week to study in a big group together. I love AXO with all my heart, and I wouldn't know what to do without my sisters.

    • Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

I would say there is a fair share of conservatives around campus, however they aren't the ones being targeted by the biased media
