    • What is your overall opinion of this school?

Davidson is awesome if you want a small, work-intensive, liberal arts school. It definitely doesn't have the reputation of many schools of similar caliber, and I've gotten a lot of blank stares when I tell people that I go here, but when people do know about Davidson, they all look impressed. Davidson has a large workload that's pretty hard to keep up with at times, but we also have a ton of cool things to do in your spare time, and they do your laundry for you so you don't have to spend that spare time washing your underwear.

What else...we have a lot of school pride (especially for basketball). The biggest complaint is definitely the workload, and I know that the small size gets to some people. Davidson has a very cool administration as far as I can tell (the board of trustees payed for approx 600 students to go to Detroit to watch the basketball team's Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games).

    • What are the academics like at your school?

Class size is always small, professors are always at least decent. Those are absolute rules. There are definitely some professors to avoid, but for the most part, they're all good, and some of them are amazing. Students tend to be extremely intellectual in and outside of class, and some of them are very competitive (those most aren't).

    • Describe the students at your school.

Davidson isn't particularly diverse racially, statistically speaking, but it's not glaringly obvious walking around. Also, I think the administration is trying hard to diversify the student population. Some students are extremely career-driven and focused, others are complete fuckups (or, as complete a fuckup as one can be and be able to remain at Davidson). There are a lot of liberals and conservatives, lots of people from the north and the south, and a few from the west coast.

    • What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Students in dorms leave their doors open all the time. We have a pretty serious honor code, and although there are occasionally thefts/vandalisms, etc, they are very rare. Theater, speakers, and athletic events are all well attended, and the larger athletic events (read: basketball games) are VERY well attended. If I'm awake at 2am on a Tuesday, I'm probably studying for a test or chillin with friends. The dating scene isn't super well-developed, it's more of a drunken hookup scene, but there are definitely a good number of couples on campus.

    • What is the stereotype of students at your school?

That all Davidson students are uptight workaholics.

That Davidson is really preppy and full of snobby rich kids.

That Davidson has a ballin' basketball team.

    • Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Yes. No, just kidding. There are a lot of uptight people here, but most people aren't. And to succeed at Davidson, you definitely have to work a lot, but not to the point of developing workaholism.

There are definitely preppy, snobby, rich kids around, but a lot of preppy kids aren't rich, snobby kids aren't preppy, etc. Mostly, though, people are amazingly nice. And I know a lot of kids who are paying their own way through Davidson.

We do, indeed, have a ballin' basketball team.

    • Here’s your chance: Say anything about your college!

Davidson is awesome. But not if you're a huge slacker, want a big school, a city school, or a school where there are good snow sports. Also, don't come here if you KNOW you want to do music, theater, or art--our departments aren't bad, they're just not the school's focus. Actually, the art department is pretty sweet--I took a basic sculpture class and we learned how to weld, use a ton of power tools, and we did lost-wax bronze casting. So the art dept.'s pretty legit.

Also, despite some stereotypes I've heard, Davidson students definitely know how to party. You just need to know where to go.
