    • What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

There are a few stereotypes associated with NYU. First off, there are hipsters, who we indeed have plenty of. Along with hipsters, there is the entirety of the Tisch School of Arts (actors, musicians, and filmmakers). Sometimes other people's personalities clash with people from Tisch. Another school is the Stern school of business which carries a stereotype of hard working Asians who come off as "nerds" to the others on campus. The Asian stereotype at NYU is strong with many people seeing Indians and Asians as "cliquey." Many of these stereotypes do hold some truth but you can't and shouldn't generalize these things as many people are trying to break these stereotypes associated with them.

    • What is your overall opinion of this school?

NYU is a lot of what I expected, in terms of education. I love the education at NYU and feel that it's top notch. The departments and professors are well qualified and teach really well (with a few exceptions). However, the social nature of NYU is okay but not amazing. People here live fast paced lives and consider themselves as very mature. Because of this, many do not act like your typical college students. Also, because of a lack of a real campus, the college feel is slightly missing. However, those who can handle fast paced lives and would love to live in NYC, should definitely give NYU a chance.

    • What are the academics like at your school?

The departments and professors are well qualified. There is a wealth of courses to choose from and I felt that I could study whatever I wanted. Some classes are huge (400+) while others are small, like high school classes (15-20). My favorite class by far was Writing the Essay: Science. Taking into account every subject, I definitely learned the most within this class and it helped me grow as a writer. My least favorite class was Organic Chemistry. Not only was it difficult, but it was hard to find individualized attention due to the large class. A lot of students definitely converse about academics and partake in intellectual conversations outside of class.

Depending on what school you get into within NYU, you will have to fulfill specific requirements to graduate. This does get to be a hassle as you have to take these courses and therefore, they take up some of your slots. On top of that, some of these required courses are difficult and take up a lot of time with busy work.

    • Describe the students at your school.

At NYU, there is a vast variety of students, in looks, personality, ways of thoughts, and general demeanor. There are plenty of LGBT students on campus, along with support groups and positive thoughts on the subject. In terms of looks, most students dress well and trendy. In comparison to high school, there is a much greater variety of people. Many people dress wacky and in interesting ways. Others dress in muted colors and pretty plain.

It's cool to view all these different types of students interacting, whether they are from California, New Jersey, or even Iowa. NYU has a lot of geographical and demographical variety. The most prevalent financial background is the upper class as it is these people who mostly can afford and attend NYU. There is a lot of political debate within NYU and we have strong speakers and views on hot topics. Many students are employed by NYU for specific jobs such as working at the gym or even the health center.

    • What are the most popular student activities/groups?

There are many popular activities that are popular within the NYU community. For starters, the political activist groups are strong willed and carry many members. There are many music oriented activities that are popular. Most students enjoy the NYC nightlife as any New Yorker would.

Most students are friendly within the dorms, depending on which dorm you're in. I had good experiences with my roommates and we were always sharing and leaving our door open for others. It was a very amicable atmosphere.

Many students here are in relationships and enjoy the city together. You usually meet people as well as your closest friends in classes and in similar interest groups.

    • What’s the Greek scene like?

The Greek Life at NYU, while less than other schools, is still a very prominent and tight-knit community. I am a part of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity within NYU and we try our best to dispel all the stereotypes associated with Greek life. This fraternity, to me, is a more a chance to meet great friends and network, while also participating in volunteer activities to help the New York City and NYU communities.

    • What’s unique about your campus?

I think what's unique about our campus is that it's not really a campus at all. Classes are in buildings spread around a large area while the "campus" is really these buildings surrounding the famous Washington Square Park which is an amazing place to look at and be in.

    • Where is the best place to get work done on campus?

The NYU Bobst library is one of the largest college libraries in the country. Most students spend their time here studying into the early hours of the morning. On the other hand, many students also prefer to study in their dorm room as they do not like the library's silent and studious atmosphere.

    • Why did you decide to go to this school?

I decided to go to NYU partly for the prestige and partly for the chance to live and breathe in New York City. Being from New Jersey, I've always wanted to know what it was like to study and live in the Big Apple. Being here has allowed me to mature and gain insight into where I want to go next with my life after I graduate.

    • What are your classes like?

Classes at NYU vary in difficulty. Some courses are simple but require a lot of busy work while others are difficult but have no homework. Many classes have multiple choice exams in the middle of the semester and then at the end of the semester. All in all, there is a wealth of different classes with varying difficulties, depending on your own interest in the subject.
