    • What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

West Virginia University has a reputation as a party school, so, most students are stereotyped as slackers who are only concerned with getting drunk. I think that this stereotype is very inaccurate, in my experience many WVU students are dedicated, hard working, goal oriented people who are more concerned with doing well in school than partying all the time. Personally I have a 3.92 GPA and school work always takes priority over going to parties.

    • What is your overall opinion of this school?

I love WVU! There is just something about Morgantown, WV that makes you feel as though you belong there. The town is vibrant and filled with pride for the University. Being a WVU Mountaineer is akin to being a member of a large family. The town, the alumni, and the entire state of WV love this institution and it has a fan base that is one of the best in the entire country. The only bad part about WVU is the hills that litter the campus, but you can always think of that as an opportunity for exercise.

    • What are the academics like at your school?

With WVU being a large institution, many people would automatically assume that you are jammed into a large auditorium with 300 other kids listening to a professor who has no interest in getting to know all of his students. While many General Education Requirements are somewhat like this, after Freshman year class sizes are reduced to anywhere from 10-45 kids. My Professors always make the effort to learn the names of every kid in class and they are always available for help or advice. I can honestly say that I haven't had a bad Professor yet. They have all been extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

    • Describe the students at your school.

With WVU being a large institution, the student body is quite diverse. There are people at this University from various backgrounds, races, religions, and lifestyles. With most first year students living in dorms, it allows for students to interact with other students who they may have never thought about interacting with. Personally, I have friends from all different religions, races, and socio-economic statuses.

    • What are the most popular student activities/groups?

I would say that the Mountaineer Maniacs are definitely one of the most popular groups on campus. They are based around cheering on the Mountaineer sports teams and because of this University's pride for its teams, it garners quite a following. The arts are also very popular at WVU, with plays, musicals, and dancing all being performed at the Creative Arts Center. An interesting activity at WVU is called WVU Up All Night. It is put on every weekend as an alternative for drinking and it features comedians, live music, contests, food, and opportunities to interact with other students.
