Improve your chances of getting into college,

The best thing about NYU is the opportunities that the city has to offer. You will never be bored with the whole city at your fingertips, and the job and internship opportunities are unbelievable. The biggest issue for most students is the social life. NYU is huge and without a traditional campus or any sense of school pride or unity, it's hard for many people to make friends. You won't find many college "keggers" on weekends and our Greek life is almost nonexistent. And NO ONE cares about our athletic teams. On the bright side, NYU has a great tradition of academics and there's no shortage of things to do in the city.

For such a large school, I have been very impressed with class sizes. Besides the giant lectures, most professors know me by name and most of my classes have less than 30 students. Depending on your major, the academic course-load can be rigorous but that's why NYU has such a good reputation!

NYU is extremely diverse and the students are extremely accepting of everyone from every walk of life. The students tend to be somewhat artsy and fashion-forward, but people wear everything from sweatpants to heels to class. I would say most students are liberal when it comes to politics.

Greek life is very small and is not a prevalent part of the social life here. Most people make friends through their dorm, freshman year. The dating scene is very bad for girls considering 60% of the students are female and the large LGBTQ community. You won't meet all that many straight, single, available guys, but I guess that's makes it easier for them! NYU is not a big party school so most people go to bars and clubs on weekends, so most students feel the need to have a fake id.
