    • What is your overall opinion of this school?

The best thing about Quinnipiac is the student body. There is a friendly atmosphere about the campus and it's easy to make friends, especially freshman year when everyone is in the same situation. I would eliminate the core classes; by the time one gets to college I think most people are well-rounded and should focus on classes pertaining to their major. Quinnipiac is just the right size- not too big to feel lost in the crowd, but big enough to make friends and get the college experience. When I tell people I go to Quinnipiac they usually haven't heard of it and ask where it is. Others recognize it and are impressed that I go there. I spend most of my time on campus in my dorm. The biggest recent controversy on campus is racial issues and diversity. There is a good amount of school pride at Quinnipiac; alot of students get into sports, mainly basketball and hockey.

    • What are the academics like at your school?

Classes usually have between 20 and 30 students, which is small enough for most professors to know your name. Students study pretty often, most heavily during midterms and finals (it's near impossible to find a place in the library during those times). I don't think most Quinnipiac students have intellectual conversations outside of class. The most unique class I've taken was acting. The academic requirements are a bit unnecessary; the core curriculum includes too many courses of material that students have taken throughout their education.

    • Describe the students at your school.

Quinnipiac does not have a diverse student body. The school has actually had to deal with racial discrimination incidents this past year. Most female students wear jeans and a sweatshirt to class; others wear something nicer, a lot wear Victoria's Secret PINK clothing. Males tend to wear jeans and tee-shirts, many from Abercromie and the like. One table in the dining hall has a group of males and females, another has members of the lacrosse team, another has a boyfriend and girlfriend, and the fourth has a group of sorority girls. Most students are from the northeast, mostly New York, Massachusetts, and New Jersey. The most prevalent financial background is well-off/ upper middle class. Quinnipiac has one of the most politically unaware and inactive student bodies you will ever come across.

    • What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Some of the most popular groups on campus are the men's hockey team, men's baseball team, fraternities, sororities, and student government. I'm a member of Dance Fusion, Quinnipiac's hip-hop dance team. The group of about 25 girls performs at basketball games, campus events, and local competitions. Students in freshman doors typically leave their doors open, but as you leave freshman year doors tend to be closed more often. Hockey games attract a large group, as do some other sports events. Depending on the guest speaker and the topic these events may attract a decent size group. I met my closest friends freshman year through a friend who I came to Quinnipiac with from home. She really liked the girls in her hallway, and since I hung out with her alot I got to know her hallmates too. If I'm awake at 2am on a Tuesday I'm either finishing homework or chatting with my roommates. Some events that happen every year include Midnight Madness (the kickoff of basketball season, with performances by Quinnipiac's spirit groups), the holiday dinner, and May Weekend (which has been discontinued as of this year). People party a lot on weekends, which sometimes start on Wednesday night, both on campus and off. Fraternities and sororities are present on campus, but do not rule the student body. They mostly serve as philanthropic groups rather than partying ones. On a Saturday night, you can go out to eat, go to the movies, or see what student-planned activites are going on on campus.
