Even though BC has 9200 undergrads, it certainly doesn't feel like that, unless you're at a football or hockey game. walking around campus you feel like you're at a much smaller college. there is so much school pride, especially in and around boston. students are not the best travelers to away games, unless it's notre dame or bowl/tournament season.

Freshman year you will definitely take a few small classes (15-20 students) where the professor will know your name. even in 300+ person lectures, some teachers are very good at getting to know each and everyone of their students.

the biology department is pretty good, but extremely demanding. if you are a bio major, and especially are in the pre-med program, it is nearly impossible to study abroad during the academic year, but there are tons of awesome summer programs in all areas and all over the world.

to fill my fine arts requirement, i took a 3 week drawing course in venice, italy, which was an amazing experience

there are definitely some students that are more religious than others, but no one pushes religion on anyone, per my experience so far. the students are very much a community, and having all freshman dorms helps that a lot. i think that most students are from the upper middle class at least and many have gone to private school, and many of those to catholic or jesuit school. the school is mostly liberal, but there are conservatives on campus that make their presence known during certain events.

There are no frats or sororities at BC, so don't rely on that as a way of making friends. freshmen year a lot of people leave their doors open first semester and that is a great way to meet people. I met most of my friends because they lived within a couple of doors of me and within 24 hours of moving in, i had 8 friends that i went to everything with.

the two biggest sports at BC are football and hockey. campus pretty much shuts down on saturdays with home games and the tailgating starts early and goes late. hockey games are almost every friday night during the winter, which makes it a lot easier to go to than basketball games, which are usually during the week and start later than hockey games.

club and intramural sports are really popular all year round because there is such a wide varitey.

that the students are all preppy and look like they came out of a J. Crew or Ralph Lauren catalog.

while a lot of students do dress in a preppy fashion, there are plenty who do not, or have their own twist on it
