Improve your chances of getting into college,

The best thing about UGA is being in Athens and being around so many other people who love UGA too. I think the school is a great size. I love walking to my classes and seeing thousands of people in my same shoes. I am in the honors program, which is one of my favorite things, because I really do get the great small, discussion based classes, as well as being at the huge school. There are so many different kinds of people, and you can always find someone who will go out with you, or go to a meeting for an activist group, or go to a sporting event. Athens is the best college town, I know so many people who go to other schools who are jealous of Athens, and they should be, its so fun. Plus, I love being at a school where everyone is proud to be a dawg. The sports here are amazing, which makes school pride incredible.

In the larger lecture classes, its impossible for the professors to know your name unless you make the effort to seek them out, which I highly recommend. There is no time of day when you can't find at least one student studying.

for me the biggest stereotype that my high school had was that it was like going to high school again because so many people from my high school go to georgia. I'm sure that this is the same for other state schools.

I was worried about this too when I learned that over 60 people from my graduating class was going to Georgia, but when I got here, I realized that it is not true at all. You don't have to see anyone that you went to high school with unless you want to. I know some people who don't talk to any high school people anymore, and I also know people who hang out with a lot of high school people. But whichever category you fall into, you meet a ton of new people simply because the school is so big.
