    • What is your overall opinion of this school?

The campus itself is gorgeous especially in the warmer months. The quad is the perfect place to relax between classes. It a fairly large university, but not so huge that you feel absolutely lost in the crowd. When I was living on campus, I spent a lot of my time just walking around the campus as a whole or in my dorm.

The administration is very hard to work with. Right from the start, you have to pry for answers as far as what certification tests you need to take and when, which classes you need to take and when, and if you are generally on track with courses. As far as I can see, this is one of the main reasons why people do not graduate on time. They come to find out in their senior year that they have extra classes they need to take and no time to take them.

    • What are the academics like at your school?

Some professors sadly will only know you by your last name. Others will know your first and last name and that your favorite color is blue. It's really a hit or miss here. I can honestly say that I have at least liked the majority of my professors as people even if they weren't the best professors. Class participation really depends on the professor, but if you have a good one, you'll usually have good class participation. The English and Education departments are filled mostly with caring professors. Unfortunately, I've had a couple of professors who were not as kind and caring as others in the English department. In Education classes, you are pretty much guaranteed to have a good time. The Education professors are usually very organized, kind, and conscientious. They also try to make every class interesting and worth while. Education professors do tend to get overloaded with work sometimes, especially if they are teachers themselves. With this situation, you'll find that sometimes they are a little bit scatter brained, but you can still tell that they value thier students and thier classes.

    • Describe the students at your school.

The student body at URI is very liberal. There is a group on campus for pretty much everyone. Many of the students are there on scholarship while others are struggling to get by. A large number of the students are paying their own way through college. Students usually dress very comfortably to class. If it's an early class, expect to see someone with pajama pants on. If a student at URI has to get up at 7 for an 8:00 class and walk up the hill, they usually don't put much effort into "looking good." From what I have seen, most students are more focused on thier passions rather than how much money they will make. Then again, someone in the business program may answer differently.

    • What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Many of the students at URI join fraternities and sororities. The Student Entertainment Committee is also popular. Schools for Schools is a group I became involved in this past year when it first started at URI. We support Atanga secondary school in Northern Uganda which has been going through civil was for 22 years. This year, we did a white flag parade through Providence and had 22 minutes of silence in front of the state house.

Athletic events are usually quite popular and fun to go to as well as the theater productions. People on this campus party every night. The only time they may party a little bit less is during finals, but once they are over with, it's back to partying again even more. Last weekend, I played paintball with my boyfriend and his friends in Coventry and got together with family. I'm not much of a party person.

    • What is the stereotype of students at your school?

-The students at URI are always getting drunk or high on something.

      -URI = URhigh

-There is nothing to do on or around campus

    • Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Many students do party all the time and it is difficult to focus when everyone around you is out getting drunk every night.

Many students at URI also smoke pot.

There are many things to do on campus, but you may have to drive to Providence to find something to do off campus.
