    • What is your overall opinion of this school?

The best thing about Tulane is its location. It has a campus but is located in the best city in the world, in the nicest neighborhood of the city. Plus, surrounding Tulane in the Broadway area, students dominate. Broadway is amazing and is such a fun social scene...so I would call it a mini-college town.

I will always remember taking a picture on the Tulane sign with 21 friends on the afternoon of our graduation. All our families were there and a photographer who worked for Tulane happened to walk by and took so many professional photographs for us. It was awesome. She even put one on the Tulane website!

    • What are the academics like at your school?

Every one of my professors knew my name. I spoke in class and participated often. Liberal arts and business school classes are smaller and their is more opportunity to interact with professors. But, if students want, they can remain on the sidelines and professors will never know their names.

My favorite class was called Communication, Culture, and Body by Professor Daruna.

    • Describe the students at your school.

Tulane might as well be a mini-Long Island. Majority of its students are from Long Island, South Florida, and the suburbs of Chicago. Be prepared for rich kids with an interest in fashion, both guys and girls!

Upper/middle class financial backgrounds are the most prevalent on Tulane's campus. Students are not afraid to flaunt their money...those who have it spend like they have it. Designer jeans, sunglasses, bags, and shoes are the norm.

    • What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Greek life at Tulane is amazing. Though intragreek relations are weak, each individual sorority is unified. My sorority, Alpha Epsilon Phi, contains an extremely close knit gorup of girls. I met most of my friends through my sorority.. Also, 15 out of 53 girls in my pledge class were from my floor freshman year.

Guest speakers are as popular as the speaker themselves. I woke up at 5:45 am to wait in line to hear Barak Obama speak. But I was also one of a few students that went to hear Madeline Albright speak.

If I am awake at 2 am on a Tuesday, I am at the Boot taking 50 cent shots with my friends. Soon I will make my way over to the Palms before grabbing a slice of pizza around 4 am for the two block walk home.

There is no dating scene at Tulane. It is hookup central. Sex and hooking up is casual and serious relationships are much less common than causal sex.

    • What is the stereotype of students at your school?

Tulane students are rich, obnoxious brats that spend their money and time wasting away in bars.

Tulane students get degrees in drinking, not real majors.

Greeks just party and do drugs.

    • Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

      No! Not at all...

While some students at Tulane might spend their time wasting away in bars, the majority of Tulane students know how to both party hard and study hard. During finals, the bars will be empty and the library turns into a social scene.

Tulane students work hard and earn their degrees. I wrote a double honor's thesis for political science and communication, graduated summa cum laude and phi beta kappa...all the while, I went out two to three nights a week until 4 am and worked part time at the Tulane law school. One thing about Tulane students is they know how to balance their time and get their stuff done.

Greek students are not only interested in partying. Greeks give back to New Orleans, do well in school, and create lifelong friendships.

    • Here’s your chance: Say anything about your college!

If I could tell a prospective student to bring two things with them to Tulane, I would say to bring rainboots and sunscreen. When it rains in New Orleans, the streets often flood. Rainboots were the most useful pair of shoes I owned. When its sunny in New Orleans, the sun is strong so sunscreen is important. The social pool is the best thing ever in 90 degree weather so bring a bathing suit and sunscreen!
