If there was one thing I would change about Pomona, I would make it bigger. Socially, it can be quite stifling. You can branch out to the other 5 colleges, but that often takes more effort than most are willing to give. If anything embarrassing or tragic happens though, everyone knows about it pretty much immediately.
When I tell people I go to Pomona, they have no idea what I'm talking about. Don't come here and expect people to recognize it as a big name.
Pomona's administration tries to be hands on but is really not tuned in to the students needs at all.
Almost all of your professors will know your name, which can be good if you want them to write reccommendations for you, or bad when they email you to ask you why you weren't in class...
Most students study all the time.
Pomona's academic requirements are so loose it's beautiful. There are only 5 very broad categories, and I fulfilled them all during my freshman year.
Education at Pomona is definitely geared toward learning for its own sake. If anything, it prepares you for grad/med/law school but no particular occupation.
Pomona's population is pretty heterogenous, and minority groups tend to clump together- whether they're self-segregating or less accepted by the majority is hard to say though.
A ditzy sorority girl or meat head jock would feel horribly out of place at Pomona.
Pomona dress is very casual. People wear everything from pajamas, to athletic clothes, to jeans and a t-shirt. The weather is usually pretty warm, so comfort is a plus, and flip flops are pretty much the only footwear people have.
About 25% of Pomona kids are from California. The rest are from all over the place, with a few percent of international students.
The most popular groups on campus are sports teams and musical groups.
There isn't really a dating scene...people either hook up randomly or are in a relationship. There really isn't any in between. And it can be very frustrating being single here.
I met my closest friends on my lacrosse team and on my freshman year hall.
How often people party varies a lot. I would say some do it never, some do it up to 5 times a week.
Frats and sororities don't exist.
Last weekend I went to Dallas to play two Lacrosse games.
On Saturday night, there are a bunch of events put on by the sub-free group "That Saturday Group." These include things like karoke or cookie baking, etc.
Off campus, I go camping, go to the beach, go to dinner, go to the movies, go shopping.
