    • What is your overall opinion of this school?

The best thing about Cornell is that it is very diverse. There are so many different kinds of people and different majors in a small area that you get to meet a lot of interesting people, and it is rich in culture. Cornell is just the right size, at least in my opinion. When people hear I'm at Cornell for Engineering they think I'm insane. This is partially true because I feel the engineering school is way more work than is healthy for a college student. On campus I spend most of my time stressed out in a lab. Off campus I spend most of my time stressed out in my room doing work. Most of the student complaints are regarding the ridiculous work loads. The winter months are kind of rough, and can get pretty depressing. However, there are a lot of fun things to do here, and Slope Day is something I will never forget.

    • What are the academics like at your school?

My favorite class is Computer Organization. I like it because it is mostly project based, and the projects are reasonable yet challenging. The homeworks don't take incredible amounts of time, and the lectures are relevant to the projects, homework, and exams. In engineering class participation is rare, and professors don't really know anyone. I'm sure this is different in other majors though. The students are pretty competitive but there is definitely a "we're all in the same boat" mentality that helps us work together. I feel that the education at cornell is geared towards inflicting as much pain as possible on the students so they will glide through the rest of their life and the work environment. It's a rather stressful experience, but certainly one that will pay off in the end. The classes are very hard and frustrating, but the requirements to graduate are reasonable.

    • Describe the students at your school.

Other than hanging around at my fraternity, I don't really poke my head outside of the engineering body. I don't get to see many of the groups that go on at Cornell. There is definitely something for everyone though because of Cornell's size and diverse student body. It never ceases to amaze me how many different kinds of people I see here on a day to day basis. Most kids are very liberal. They like to blame others for the worlds problems and assume that making everything peachy is easy and that it's outrageous that it isn't working out that way in our country. Most of the students here only think about what they will be making one day. Most kids are too focused on school work and the future to live in the present, which can make for a dull week while everyone has their face in a book. Most kids are from New York or New Jersey and have a ton of money. I don't think anyone would feel out of place here because there are so many different kinds of people. As long as they aren't engineers, they should have a great time here.

    • What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Fraternities are pretty huge at Cornell. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have a fraternity to hang out at. Overall I would say this is a pretty antisocial school. There are a lot of people that like to sit in their rooms or study. People I know usually only party on the weekends, but I think certain majors with less work party more often. Fraternities are key for partying. RAs are too much of a pain in the ass to party in the dorms. I wouldn't want to consider spending a weekend without drinking. It's what people do here if they are not studying. That is the way Cornell works: Working or Drinking. I don't know much else about the social scene. I tend to stick to my room playing computer games. I live with 5 people that are pretty social, but even they are in their rooms most nights studying. I don't go off campus because it requires walking up hills that would tire a Sherpa.

    • Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Some of them are. For example the people here are uglier than on other campuses, all the engineers and architects do is work, and there are a lot of jewish students. However, there are very few suicides (if any) in a year, and I don't find the party scene to be more outrageous than in high school

    • Here’s your chance: Say anything about your college!

Cornell is a school for people that like to work really hard. It is not a party school, it is not a school for hanging on the quad to throw the frisbee and talk about the good times. Cornell is a school where you go to work your ass off and move on from there. If you can't deal with stress and pain, do not consider being an engineer. Other majors might be OK, but engineering is a ticket to 4 years of pain.
