The University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill is famously well-rounded: beautiful campus, friendly college town, good weather, dynamic social life, five-star academics, and some of the best athletic teams in the country. What’s lacking? Not much. UNC provides the best public education in the South, which makes four years on this flowering, temperate, lively Chapel Hill campus a bliss-out for its huge, diverse population.

Although the size of the institution can be intimidating, especially at first, it allows for a varied and multi-faceted student body, one that is reflected in the multiplicity of activities on campus. Seth, a Senior majoring in Theatre, emphasizes this diversity of interests. “If you are passionate about anime-ninja-fantasy-baseball card collecting, there's probably an anime-ninja-fantasy-baseball card collecting group with at least twelve members. There's even a pirate club.”

Of

course, UNC can't take all the credit for their students' happiness. You would be hard pressed to find a town as pleasant as Chapel Hill, or as the locals call it, 'The Southern Part of Heaven'. As Sharon, a Freshman, puts it, Not only is it the perfect place for someone who loves sports and wants a good education but the campus is gorgeous. North Carolina weather is the best of everything. We get nice and hot summers to enjoy, then we move into the beautiful fall weather that is temperate and brings out all of the drastic colors of the leaves, we move into a chilly winter that only gives us short bouts of snow, and then we bring all of the pastels and bright pinks of the flowers with spring, which causes the students to litter the quad in an attempt to soak in as much of the beautiful weather as they can. I first visited UNC during the spring season, and I knew there was no other place I would be happy going to college.
