Washington: The Big Picture
It's a very large university, and sometimes it doesn't seem like it cares about you very much. However, if you make sure to touch base with an adviser and get yourself plugged into a club or community, you won't have any problems.
Washington Academic Life
Class size varies from around 3 students to around 700 students. The more you get into your major and your particular area of study, the smaller and more intimate the classes are (the largest classes are almost always survey-type classes).
One of the most interesting classes is Biology 100 (a.k.a. Drugs for Thugs). It's amazing even for those people that aren't very good at science, and the teacher makes it interesting. Also, another popular class is Geology 101 (a.k.a. Rocks for Jocks). It's almost impossible to fail that class, and if you put in a good effort, you'll have fun and earn an excellent grade.
Washington's Student Body
As far as racial diversity goes, Washington does pretty well. There are all kinds of cultures represented, although the dominant race is Asian. Most of the students are very laid back, most wear comfortable clothes to class (jeans, sweats, t-shirts, occasionally pajamas). There are often protests on campus, mostly artistic ones (ex. flags in the lawn), as opposed to mobs.
Washington Student Activities + Social Life
The swing dancing club, Swing Kids, is fairly popular. Washington football games are well-attended. There are also numerous opportunities to get involved in the arts (through dance, theater, the opera, etc.). Many people are involved in the Greek system. There are also many Christian houses just north of campus.
