WPI: The Big Picture
The school is small, but that's why I like it. Coming from a very small town, being in Worcester is a little scary, but the campus is beautiful and our escort service is great. There's quite a bit of school pride, especially at basketball games and during homecoming, and there's a ton of greek life. But even if you aren't in a fraternity or sorority, you can still go to the parties and hang out with everyone. They really don't exclude you. The only thing that's kind of difficult, is that like, the terms are so short that you really have to stay on top of all of your school work above everything else. If you mess up at all, it could mean complete failure in that class for the term, so it's really important to do all your work, and get help if you need it.
WPI Academic Life
Some classes are small, and the professor knows your name, but others are done in a big lecture hall, and sometimes even the TAs or PLAs don't know your name. Class participation is always encouraged, and sometimes required. Students study pretty much every night, except Tuesdays, and WPI students do have intellectual conversations outside of class, which is very refreshing. I'm majoring in Math and Spanish. I love the Spanish department, and the math department I'm still deciding about. All the teachers really want to help you, but for most of them if you don't seek help you won't do well.
WPI's Student Body
A lot of students on campus are from other countries, which creates a very diversified student body. Since most people become friends with the other people that live on their floor freshman year, aside from fraternities and sororities, and sports teams of course, there really aren't many "cliques" or groups like that. Everyone is really very friendly, and unless students are there on scholarships, they're mostly from upper-middle class. A very prominent discussion topic is how much students will make when they graduate and get a job, but that's really what everyone talks about at every college.
WPI Student Activities + Social Life
We have a really great Social Committee, although I might be a little biased. There are a LOT of clubs on campus, and there is always something to do. Basketball games are probably one of the biggest athletic events, and football games are pretty popular too. Almost everyone leaves their doors open in the dorms, but dating is a little... iffy. The ratio of males to females is quite depressing, for guys at least, but the majority of dateable guys are already taken.

It's a pretty great school. I really like it.
