What are some stereotypes about Amherst students?

They are workaholics who do nothing but study all the time.

Are the stereotypes accurate?

No, many students, especially those who participate in some sport are also involved in many extracurricular activities.

Amherst: The Big Picture

Amherst is a little small, but it is nice being able to walk across campus and know many of the people you see. The town of Amherst is small, but has many great restaurants, and if you ever need the big school feel UMASS is only 5 minutes away.

Amherst Academic Life

Classes aren't too hard, it's just that the students are smart so it forces you to do your best work. The professors are pretty solid, I've had some good and some bad. If you are outgoing with your professors they will help you and talk to you anywhere.

Amherst's Student Body

Students at Amherst seem just like students at any other college. They are some that are politically active, very studious, athletic, and many other types. The nice thing is that students of different groups interact a lot in campus.

Amherst Student Activities + Social Life

Since it is a small school, but it still has a large number of varsity sports, a big percentage of the population is involved in athletics. Freshman year it is easy to get to know people because they leave there door open and stop to say hi all the time. If you want to party at Amherst, there are plenty of opportunities to party, but if you don't there are many other things to do.
