MTV College Life: Episode 2 - The Pressure's On

In episode two of College Life, we find out who will cave under the stress of cramming for midterms while simultaneously coping with personal drama. This segment showcases college's harshest reality—if you fail, you can lose your scholarship or beer funds from the 'rents. It's no surprise that in today's economy, our campus reps resented Jordan's decision to drop $2,400 on a tattoo and Kevin's lax attitude toward failing most of his classes while his parents foot the bill. The episode also reveals that Josh, Andrea's ex, stayed a virgin all this time hoping that they'd get back together. Alas, as this clip shows, Andrea is definitely keeping her options open. MTV College Life: Episode 2 - Our Bloggers Weigh In

"Kevin definitely had the best quote of the show when he was like, 'I love Mondays, Mondays are for drinking!' the night before his midterm." says Hanna McDonald-Moniz, a Princeton University junior.

feliciaheadshotFelicia Compian, Georgian Court University Class of 2009 - "I may be unpopular for expressing this opinion, but I felt the scene with [Alex's] friend’s car crash lacked sincerity. I don’t know how well Alex knew her or how she processes grief. However, judging by earlier scenes where she is losing it over a test or simply being falling-down drunk, her reaction felt hollow and forced. It bothers me when a teenager dies and suddenly everyone at her high school was her best friend and everyone is uttering empty phrases like 'I remember her as being so alive.'" Read more...

Benjamin Geary, Beloit College Class of 2009 - “Besides that 'prayer' thing, Josh and Andrea’s rollercoaster was the only normal storyline. Yes, terrible things happen to people (no one makes up Hurricane Ike), but $2,400 for a shitty sleeve tattoo when you’re in debt? The whole episode made everyone I was with really somber." Read more...

Erin sperling 2Erin Sperling, University of Arizona Class of 2009 - "Test pressures, a hurricane hits her home town, and then a friend dies in a car crash? No wonder poor Alex dropped out of the project. I’m going to miss her, but I wish her luck." Read more...

Kim CieslaKim Ciesla, Rowan University Class of 2011 - "As for Jordan, he made an interesting decision to get his tattoo. I think many students struggle to pay their way through college, or at least have had money issues at one point. Jordan blew $2,400 on a tattoo—that’s a large sum of money. I hope he can justify it to his parents who are working so hard to give him the opportunity to go to school in the first place." Read more...

Justin Schiele 2Justine Schiele, Santa Clara University Class of 2010 -"Josh drives me crazy. He (or MTV editing) tries to make us feel sorry for him because he is so in love with Andrea and she is trying to move on to other guys, but whenever he’s with her he’s a jerk. The show is a little slow and I wonder where it is going plot-wise." Read more...
