Babson: The Big Picture
I am from Chicago and none of my friends had heard of Babson, but everyone i have ever run into in the business word HAS. I don't know about most people but I would rather have my future employer know Babson's outstanding reputation than one of my best friends.
The best part about Babson is that you can create your own college experience there. College doesn't just happen to you, at Babson your college experience is something you create. Going to a smaller school was the best decision for me because i have been able to get so involved and I am able to do things I would never have been able to do at a large school. But Babson is not for someone who wants a large school where they can skip class and blend in. Babson is somewhere that provokes it's students to standout and take charge of their education.
Babson Academic Life
Academics are extremely difficult at Babson. Average GPAs are lower but with the knowledge you acquire at Babson you learn how to sell yourself and your experience to future employers so much that a little bit lower GPA doesn't even cross their mind.
I have had amazing professors who have encouraged me to learn more about subjects I never knew I liked. The Babson education is aimed at the after college experience in the working word. I know so many people who have come here being shy people and graduated being one of the best speakers I know. Babson shapes its already outstanding students into even better people.
Babson's Student Body
Babson students are a mix of all backgrounds. A decent amount of students are from the East coast and come from middle to high class families. Another large group are the BISOs (international kids who are ridiculously rich and own nice cars and smoke a lot and wear huge sunglasses). Athletes are a big clique at Babson because so many people are involved in sports and the Beaver Nation has created a strong fan base for those sports. There are so many different groups but the groups all mix so much that it isn't an issue. Also a lot of people are involved in 3 or more groups which unites all the cliques.
Babson Student Activities + Social Life
Babson night life is determined by the sports team throwing the party that night or the Fraternity hosting the themed party that night. After spring break, SODAS start which is a different themed party every night in a different senior suite. Knight parties happen once a month and are like a huge sweaty high school dance with booze and a lot more making out on the dance floor. Knight parties go form 10-2am and there is a beer garden for those 21+ and most people go after 12. We don't have classes on Friday so we have a 3 day weekend every week. Thursday night is Pub night and everyone goes to the campus Pub and there is a DJ there and people who are over 21 can drink. The drunk bus goes into Boston to drop 21+ students off at the bars and picks them up at 2am when the bars close.
