Beloit College is a small school in the Midwest with a progressive education model.
The school encourages students to undertake independent research and fieldwork, and off-campus study is popular. The curriculum also encourages interaction between students and their professors: the average class has only 15 students, and the First Year Initiatives program assigns each student an advisor who serves as a guide throughout freshman and sophomore years. Beloit’s campus is small—only about four blocks long—so it doesn’t take long to walk from building to building. And though the city of Beloit, Wisconsin is cozy and offers a small sliver of nightlife for students, the scene can get dull, so students recommend having a car on campus.
