    • What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

Here at Rutgers University New Brunswick Campus, there are several stereotypes that one may hear through the grape vine. A commonly used one would be that of Frat kids and thier institutions. Frats are seen everywhere, from thier houses, to members sporting their letters on clothing. The Frat life, or greek life, can be seen here as both positive and negative at times. The positives are that the institutions are established in order to promote networking and academic achievement, yet in many cases I have seen personally, academic achievement can fall at the wayside.

    • What is your overall opinion of this school?

Rutgers University has much to offer each and every student in a unique way. The best thing about this school is that diversity is present virtually everywhere one goes. There are so many cultural influences present at our school, allowing for everyone to learn from eachother. The school is quite big, yet there are several campuses which breaks the school into comfortable quarters. Students are supplied with dorms if they wish to dorm on campus. The dorms are where kids will spend most of thier casual time, perhaps in one of the many study rooms provided. Students here have many resources to unlock and utilize, however the only thing I could possibly complain about is the soliciting of many of these resources. There are many programs that are offered and presented openly to the public, but throughout the year one may notice several programs or clubs in existance that they were never informed about.

    • What are the academics like at your school?

As George Washington once said, "I cannot tell a lie", I too must not lie when I say that the academic aspect of Rutgers is challenging. It is challenging, but it is worth it; students here will use self discovery of information, allowing them to take so much out of thier studies. Students here either study numerous hours on end or very few; the students that study very few hours a week find that their system just does not work. Diligence in one's studies is crucial and, yes, there is time for casual relaxation, but when it is time to buckle down and do work, it is time. The educational goal here can be career spacific, such as an engineer major, which will prepare a student for getting a job. There are also courses that are geared to learning in its own respect, such as a global diversity class; students may not be directly prepared for a job through courses such as these, however, they will take so much from the courses into the workfield with them.

    • What are the most popular classes offered?

The most popular classes here is hard to say. I have many friends that are engineer majors and of course they have thier own rigorous schedule of demanded classes. The same goes for each major and specification. As freshmen, one will be required to attend the course of Expository Writing which is dreaded by some and not minded by others such as myself. I took Pyschology my first year even though I didnt intend to major in it or anything. I liked it, and it was a polular class by many. Business majors will take thier personal business writing classes, statistics, pre calc, calc, just as English majors such as myself will have to meet requirements such as taking literature classes that cover a broad range of requirements; from african american, renaissance, victorian era, american, eropean, to midevil related literature. It is hard to say that classes are popular when each major demands different classes.

    • Tell us about your professors.

My experience with most of my professors has been pleasant. There can be strong relationships built between students and teachers here at Rutgers. Letters of recommendation will be of ease when relationships are created between teacher and student. The professors are there to help you, and it is one's responsibility to utilize every possible resource a teacher has to offer. If the Professor is busy, which is rare because most will make time for a student, there are teaching assistants in most classes that are established to further help students.

    • Describe a day on campus you’ll never forget.

A day that I will never forget at Rutgers is the first day of my freshman year. I, along with thousands of other newly enrolled students, began unloading all of our possesions out of our cars. We all said our farewells to our parents and family, nervous yet excited of what the college experience would be like. In the dorms students became friends and began socializing, trying to figure out together, just how the college experience worked.

    • Describe a typical weekend.

A typical weekend at Rutgers would involve some light to heavy studying depending on what the upcoming week is demanding of you. The nightlife here is quite active, with parties to go to and people to hang out with. Food will be eaten, friends will be made, and sleep will be needed by the end of the weekend.

    • Describe the dorms.

Personally, I only dormed my freshman year, but the fact that I decided to get an off campus apartment my sophomore year has nothing to do with my dorming experience. I enjoyed dorming, I enjoyed the friends that I could make, and the vibe of community. We were all freshmen, nervous and excited about what the year would bring, and that allowed us to relate to one another and become friends. My normal routing would be waking up, walking two doors town to take a shower, walking down to the dining hall to eat breakfast, and grabbing either a New York Times or USA Today newspaper that was supplied to us. The dorms were comfortable and I would not hesitate to reccomend dorming to any prospect student.

    • What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Every freshman should know that they dont know! What I mean is that no matter how u think the college experience is going to be, what you are anticipating, you are wrong. Is this a bad thing? NO! Its good because you will have the chance to get used to things and become adapted. Make this place your environment, explore, become habituated, and make this place feel like home. It is nervous at first, yes indeed, but that feeling dissipates fast and comfort settles in. Just be ready to get on top of your TIME MANAGEMENT! You will have a rough few months here if your time management is far off, so please buy yourself a planner, utilize that app on your phone, something.

    • What’s the dating scene like?

The dating scene here is complicated I guess. I witness many people get into relationships that are on a basis of infatuation solely, and also some relationships that succeed and are more serious. I personally met my girlfriend my freshman year and we have been strong for about a year and a half now. So here it is either hook ups or serioius relationships as well.

    • What’s unique about your campus?

What is unique about my campus is that we are not secluded from the rest of the world. Students may be studying for a medical field job, and on thier way to class they will walk by one of two major hospitals here in New Brunswick, witnessing doctors and nurses attending work, just as they may be doing in the near future.

    • When you step off campus what do you see?

Off of campus there are noticably many unique restaraunts to go to, plays to see, and even NYC is just a short train ride away. There is much to see right in the city of New Brunswick and friends will find ways to be entertained here.,

    • Describe how your school looks to someone who’s never seen it.

To someone that has never even heard a discription of Rutgers New Brunswick, I would start by saying that the schools surrounding environment is very resourceful. The city of New Brunswick surrounds our campus, offering hundreds of restaurants to grab breakfast, lunch, dinner, or late night sandwiches at. The city offers all of the essentials that a college student needs, from hair cuts to groceries, one will find what they need here. There are four main campuses here. We have Busch campus which is where the athletic fields are located. One will find the football stadium here, massive soccer fields that students use for soccer, flag football, ultimate frisbee, and a track to run around and exercise. It also has the Werblin Recreation center, with an olympic sized pool, racquet ball courts(7 i believe), basketball courts, volleyball courts(inside and out), and a gym to lift wieghts. Next there is the Livingston Campus which is under construction and beginning to look even more beautiful. A great new addition to the campus is the new dining hall that was just put up this year, making the dining experience much better. There are new dorms in the making, accustoming our new prospective students, basketball courts, gymnasium with inside basketball courts, fitness room, and about seven tennis courts outside which is where I spend a good amount of my time at;) The Cook/Douglass campus offers the Passion Pond, a beautiful place with benches to study at; I remember successfully reading an entire book there for one of my classes there with ease and comfort. The dining halls here are quite suiting, giving dining options for whatever mood a student is in. The College Avenue campus is the one that I have become most familiarized with this year, my sophomore year. There are two gyms here to choose from, the Easton Ave gym and College Ave gym, both within minimal walking distance of one another. There is a swimming pool just as there is one at Busch Campus, as well as basketball, and tennis. Many classes that students will be attending, unless they are engineer or pychology majors whcih would be Busch campus mainly, will be located here at College Ave. This is where the city of New Brunswick connects with the campus. All the restaurants and even attractions such as plays and musical attractions will be found here. The well known "Frat Row" will be found here with the students who decided to join the greek life. Each Rutgers campus has different things to offer students, and experiencing what each campus has to offer is just one of the fun adventures each student that attends Rutgers will embark on.

    • Tell us about the food and dining options.

Here at Rutgers we have plenty or resources for food and dining. Rutgers just renovated the Livingston Dining Hall and it is beautiful. With a myriad of choices to feast upon, the dining halls at Livingston, Busch, Cook/Douglass, and College have meals to accompany any appetite. Fresh omelletes in the morning, pizza, burgers, salad, deli sandwiches, and fresh fish meals are plentiful at the dining halls here. If one wishes to dine off of campus there are plenty of great places to eat that will even accept RU express, and deliver right to dorm rooms.

    • Describe your favorite campus traditions.

What is my favorite campus tradition? When I think of a tradition here at Rutgers I think of the first football game of the year. Much of the student population attends the game in high spirits and a vible of unity is something that cannot be ignored.
