Elon: The Big Picture
The best thing about Elon is the close-knit community. No exaggeration, it is "a home away from home". It is the perfect size, around 5,000 students. Located in a cute, small town in North Carolina on one of the most beautiful campuses in the United States. Greek life is a big source of social life here. Good thing- frats and sororities for all types of people so able to find your niche if your into Greek Life. Doesn't have the best sports teams but fun to attend games. Always alot going on around campus.
Elon Academic Life
Academics are strong at Elon but not too overwhelming as long as you attend class and get work done on time. Kinda annoying attendance policy, most colleges do not have one. Usually can only miss 2 or 3 classes per semester without penalty for each course. Great programs for Business or Communications/ Journalism majors. Professors are pretty cool and get to know students well. Elon always has great guest speakers come, just had Bill Clinton.
Elon's Student Body
Elon is a very homogenous campus...predominantly white students, not much racial difference. However, everyone is very friendly and its not hard to fit in! Most Elon students are from New England, Maryland, Virginia. There are more females than males. Some students can get caught up in money and material things b/c they are alot of well off kids.
Elon Student Activities + Social Life
The most popular group on campus that is made up of the most students is sororities and fraternities. Sports teams tend to get close and each team will throw parties, sometimes on same night. Social scene is huge here. Students work during the day, party 3 or 4 nights a week. Freshman don't date as much as the older students on campus. If you aren't into drinking, they are definitely other things to do around campus. No one really goes off campus that much except to get food or go shopping. Have big fall and spring concerts.
Elon Naked Truth
Definitely look at Elon as one of the colleges in your college search. Even if it nots for you, the campus is beautiful and its worth a visit. I'm sure once your down here you will feel right at home like majority of the students!
