There are a few exceptions, but for the most part living on campus in the school’s residence halls is a requirement of all undergraduate students who are unmarried and financially dependent upon parental support. Rooms are furnished with twin beds, chests of drawers, desks, chairs, and mirrors. Everything else is up to the students to bring. The four residences are Jubilee Hall, Crosthwaite Hall, Mary D. Shane Hall, and New Livingston Hall.
Hazel R. O'Leary was appointed President of Fisk University in July, 2004. Before that, O’Leary served as President of the international energy-consulting firm O’Leary & Associates, which she founded in 1997 to focus on issues of corporate change, leadership and arms control. From 2001-2002 she acted as President and Chief Operating Officer at Blaylock & Partners, L.P., a top ranked African American investment-banking firm in New York. During the first administration of President Bill Clinton, 1993-1997, O’Leary served as U.S. Secretary of Energy. At Fisk, she replaced Interim President Dr. Charles R. Fuget.

John Hope Franklin – Historian and author of the famous text “From Slavery to Freedom”
Alcee Hastings – US Congressman and former U.S. district court judge
John Lewis – US Congressman and famous civil rights activist
Ida Wells – Famous civil rights activist and women’s suffrage advocate
