How we do it
How are Unigo Reviews compiled? Are they updated? Can students keep adding reviews to a school that has a Unigo Review?
Our editors are recent college grads who remember what it’s like to apply to and be in college. When we write our Unigo Review for a given college, we read through all of the student reviews of that school, looking for standout quotes and repeated themes. Then we write a Unigo Review summarizing students' general feelings about the school's location, campus, student body, social life, and academics, based on what students have written. Editors go over the Unigo Reviews periodically to make adjustments, and if you submit a great new review for a school you could find one of your quotes added. If you submit a review for a school that doesn't have a fully-featured page yet, there’s a good chance one of your quotes will make it into the Unigo Review.
Why do some schools have fully-featured pages and others don't?
Because we base the heart of our coverage—the Unigo Review—on the opinions of students and recent alums, first we need to hear from them. Only then can we be confident that we're accurately reflecting student opinion. If you’d like to see your school covered in more depth, get involved! Take the survey, upload videos, photos, and documents, and encourage your friends to do the same.
I see a bunch of stuff labeled “Unigo Pick.” How do you choose what gets highlighted?
There’s no hard and fast rule that we use when selecting Unigo Picks – the distinction just means we liked it. When you see a Unigo Pick, you may be looking at something that’s exceptionally honest or insightful or unique—or maybe it just made us laugh.
How did you choose each college's selectivity rating?
We used the following scale:
• 0-30% of applicants admitted: Most selective
• 31-50% of applicants admitted: More selective
• 51-75% of applicants admitted: Selective
• 76-100% of applicants admitted: Less selective
