The school is a good size. Nobody knows much about Ithaca when I go for job interviews so it isn't very helpful. College town blows because Cornell kids are doushe bags. Recently there has been a lot of rapes and administration has done nothing in response.

Most professors know you by name. Studying gets done as much as you choose to do so. Class participation is expected except by those professors who would rather listen to themselves speak. Most classes are trying to help you get a job except for a couple taught by Stephen Mosher which are geared towards making the students actually think outside the box.

Mens Rugby is still in the process of being formed and consists of people who love to hit people rather than people who love to get drunk and sing songs. Athletic events blow. If you're awake at 2 AM on a Tuesday you must be ripping rails because nobody does that unless they're an alcoholic or studying. Cortaca is the only fun event all year and even that sucks ass. Parties are every thursday-saturday. There are no frats or sororities. I have no idea what to do if your not drinking on a saturday night. The gorges are fun to go to.

The theatre, music, and film schools are amazing. The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful, even if it's really cold. Rod Serling went to our school, so we have the entire Twilight Zone series in our library. Most of my classes have maybe 12 people in them, and even big lecture classes have less than 100. If I wanted to, I could ask any of my professors out to coffee and they'd say yes. Kerry Butler went to Ithaca.

I have not been here very long, so I do not have an expert opinion on what works well and what does not. If I had to guess, I would say classes reach maximum capacity quickly, and a lot of people seem to have complaints about that.

Though the area Ithaca College is located in is great, there isn't anywhere close by if you want a change of scene. The town of Ithaca and near by Cornell are eccentric, interesting communities, but there are no large cities near by if you want exposure to a more metropolitan area.

The only regret I have about making my decision to come to Ithaca is the amount of money I have paid to get here, but I'm sure I've been reimbursed in valuable experience. I wish I had known more about the musical opportunities in the community so I could have become involved sooner, but the extra practice time was much needed, I'm sure. Otherwise, I expected nothing less of the college and having lived an hour from the campus for my entire childhood, I was prepared for the long, cold winter.

Read all 6 answers Why did you decide to go to this school?
It was basically down to financial aid and although the other school I was torn with was going to be drastically cheaper, I knew that I would be happier here. I wanted a change in environment and I definitely landed in almost the opposite end of the spectrum coming from the city. Visiting Ithaca also helped me decide. I hate to be cliche but Ithaca really is gorges.

Many stereotypes of students at Ithaca include hipsters and stoners. This is false. There are actually a lot more athletic students than any other stereotype. That being said, Ithaca is pretty diverse stereotype wise. There are a bunch of jocks, theater junkies, geeks, etc. Everybody kind of has a place.
