Consultation Timeline

In January, You Should...
Talk with a Counselor about:
  • Applications are in! Find out what you can still do -- and what you shouldn't do -- to increase your chances of getting accepted.
  • Make sure each of the schools you applied to is actually a good fit. Speak with a counselor to get more background information.
  • Work with a counselor while completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). There's tens of thousands of dollars on the line!
  • More than $3.4 billion dollars in scholarships are given out each year. Work with a counselor to find the ones that are right for you.
  • Many scholarships have early or rolling deadlines (first come, first serve). Get the advice and feedback you need to increase your chances of winning.
Talk with a Student about:
  • Make sure you applied to the right schools! Speak with current students who are just like you to ensure each college is actually a good fit.
  • 54% of college students change their major (losing credits, money and time along the way). Speak with students from a variety of majors to get a realistic understanding of what each one is really like.
  • Speak with students at each college you applied to and find out about the most common career paths for recent graduates. What companies are recruiting on campus? Make sure your own interests match up.
  • Many schools have millions of scholarship dollars students can only apply for after they've been accepted. Find out about internal scholarships so you don't miss out!
