Macalester: The Big Picture
Macalester is a small liberal arts school in St. Paul, Minnesota. It is chock full of smart people from around the world, and as a result the campus is pretty much friendly to everything. There is a suprising diversity on campus given the small amount of kids there, and everyone seems to find a group that they can belong in. As such, the school has a very high quality of life. There is not a lot of school pride about Macalester's athletics, somthing that many would like to change but find it tough with so many international kids and ones who just plain don't care about sports.
Macalester Academic Life
Top-notch: is in second tier in midwest schools (after UChicago, Northwestern, WashU, Notre Dame)
Macalester's Student Body
Very politically aware and left-leaning, very open to all races, sexual orientations, etc.) There is a little bit of different types of students staying together (ex. athletes hang out with athletes, internationals with internationals), but there are many exceptions.
Macalester Student Activities + Social Life
No frats or sororities, but have many close off campus houses where parties occur. There isn't really any exclusion at these parties, which is pretty cool. There also are international houses (Spanish House, German House, etc.) and themed houses (EcoHouse, Veggie Coop) to choose from.
Pretty easy to find illegal substances
Macalester Naked Truth
Dorms are nice, food is good, classes are small, St. Paul/Minneapolis is sweet, everyone is friendly and not a d-bag
