OWU: The Big Picture
OWU is a great place for undergrad. The professors are really always willing to help and become good friends. They are there for moral support, homework help, or good life chats. The professors are the best part of OWU, and I think they are the reason that it is such an impressive school.
The setting is nice as well because it has that small college town atmosphere, with Columbus and OSU nearby.
OWU Academic Life
I can't say enough about the academics. The courses are challenging but they prepare you. No one leaves OWU unprepared for their next step - as long as they put the work in. The professors have an invested interest in their students and they really do care and want the best for each of them. They do expect a lot, but as a student you get a lot so its a tradeoff. It would be easier at other schools, but it would be hard to get the education that is provided at OWU at any other institution.
The professors are always readily avaible. For example, I have some of my professors home numbers incase I would ever need them.
OWU's Student Body
OWU's student body is an interesting thing. We have one of the highest percentages of liberal arts colleges for international students and I think that it adds to the education outside of the classroom. On the other hand, we have many students from Chicago, Cleveland, and a high percentage of our studnet body comes from the east coast. We are a mix of people that is for sure, but somehow it works out very nicely.
OWU Student Activities + Social Life
Social life can a bit dull if you don't get involved. You have to be a motivated person, or at least it helps a great deal. I have seen too many people leave because they failed to get involved and realize the full potential that OWU has to offer them. Having said that, OWU offers a lot to its students, and if an oppurtunity is not found, then tools needed to make it happen are.
As far as meeting people, I have met most of my good friends through classes and living situations. I have also met some great people at various parties on campus. The themed parties at the Frats are the best. But, this is by no means a party school. As a campus we like to go out to the frats, bars, whathave you, but really only on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights.
