The University of West Florida Argonauts compete in the NCAA Division II Gulf South Conference. Although UWF lacks a football team and wild fan displays, athletics have a noticeable presence on campus.
The men’s tennis team won the Division II national championship in 2004 and 2005. Men’s sports include: baseball, soccer, basketball, tennis, cross country track and golf. Women's teams include basketball, tennis, cross country track, golf, softball, soccer, volleyball and track. UWF boasts state-of-the-art athletic facilities, including the Jim Spooner Field at Pelican Park baseball stadium, the UWF Soccer Complex and the UWF Softball Complex.
