Based on current statistics, for-profit schools have the highest rate of student loan default. However, just like state vs private, some for-profit will be a better choice than non-profit. It all depends what works best for a particular student.

Make sure you do your research and confirm the accreditation, graduation rates, and job placement success for these online institutions. Unfortunately, the large profits realized by these for-profit institutions has led to a proliferation of entries into the online learning world. Frontline completed a pretty thorough investigation into this matter and it has also been looked into by Congress. Seek the guidance of a professional and/or research any school before making that final decision.
