SFCC Sebring Optimist Club Vocational Scholarship

This award is available for U.S. students between the ages of 17 and 24. The applicant must be a resident of the South Florida Community College service district and be enrolled or planning to enroll at least part time in a vocational program. Preference will be given to residents of Highlands County, FL.

SFCC African-American/Willie J. Dennard, Jr. Scholarship

This award is for full-time South Florida Community College students of African American descent who are residents of Hardee, Highlands, or DeSoto counties in Florida. Students must be seeking an associate’s degree and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher.

Selby Scholars Scholarship

Residents of Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte or DeSoto counties who are graduating from a high school or community college in those counties are eligible for this award. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Public Education and Citizenship Committee Statewide Essay Contest

This award is available for Florida high school seniors who are planning to attend a state university, community college or any division of higher learning supported by the state of Florida. Students must be willing to write a 1,000-word essay on ‘Why Education is Important.’

Rosewood Family Scholarship Program

This award is available for U.S. undergraduate students who are considered a minority and planning to attend an eligible college or university in Florida. Priority will be given to direct descendants of African-American Rosewood families affected by the events of January 1923.
