Douglas Gray Kimel Scholarship
This scholarship is open to residents of Forsyth County, NC, who plan to pursue an undergraduate degree in music. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and some financial need; preference is given to applicants who are Moravian and/or are studying to enter a church-related vocation.
A. Ruth Hutchins Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is open to undergraduate students who are residents of Forsyth or Yadkin counties in North Carolina; preference will be given to students pursuing degrees in music or music ministry. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and demonstrated financial need, leadership, service, and community involvement.
Tripp Joye Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is open to high school seniors who are residents of Forsyth County, NC, and plan to pursue a degree in music (preferably percussion). Students must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
Claire Tillson Gladding Scholarship
This scholarship is open to high school seniors who attend a Forsyth County (NC) high school and reside in The Winston-Salem Foundation’s service area. Students must: have been involved in and intend to remain involved in the area of fine arts or performing arts; have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher; and must demonstrate financial need.
Beekhuis Scholarship
This scholarship is open to high school seniors who reside in New Castle County, Delaware, and plan to pursue a degree in chemistry, physics, biology, other science, mathematics, or music. Students must demonstrate financial need.
Nashville Songwriting Scholarship
This songwriting competition is open to current full- and part-time students at U.S. colleges who are 17 to 24 years of age as of the application deadline date. Students must submit an original song with lyrics and instrumentation in one of the following genres: Americana, blues, bluegrass, contemporary Christian, country, folk, and roots.
BMI Future Jazz Master Scholarship
This scholarship is open to current master’s and doctoral students at select U.S. institutions who are degree candidates in one of the following majors: jazz and studio music, jazz composing and arranging, jazz performance, jazz performance and pedagogy, jazz studies, jazz studies and contemporary media. Students must submit three recordings of recent performances to enter.
NFMC Lucile Parrish Ward Veteran’s Award
This scholarship is open to U.S. undergraduate students who are military veterans and pursuing a degree in the field of music. Preference will be given to veterans who served overseas.
NFMC U.S. Armed Forces American Music Award
This music composition competition is open to members of the U.S. military (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine, Coast Guard, and National Guard). Entries are accepted in the following categories: solo works for piano, organ, strings, woodwinds, brass, or percussion; original works for band, orchestra, or chorus; original works for large or small ensembles or church music; American opera, American musical theater, or patriotic music; folk music, ethnic music, or jazz.
