  1. Must be a high school senior.
  2. Must reside in Worcester County, MA.
  3. Must have at least one parent who is or was a firefighter or police officer in the Worcester area.

Description: The December 3rd Scholarship is available for high school seniors in Worcester, Massachusetts. Applicants must have one or more parents who are or were employed as police officers or firefighters in the local area.

Application requirements for the December 3rd Scholarship are:

  • Transcript
  • Recommendation letter
Additional Information: The December 3rd Scholarship is provided annually through the Greater Worcester Community Foundation (GWCF). Students are eligible for this award if they are current high school seniors in Worcester and they have a parent who is or was a police officer or firefighter in the area. All applications completed prior to the deadline date will be given full consideration based on academic history, unmet financial need, and the strength of received recommendation letters.

Award Amount: Scholarships are awarded in amounts ranging from $300 - $5,000. Each individual award will be based on the recipient's financial need.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

The deadline for 2019 has passed and application for the December 3rd Scholarship are currently closed. Please check back in January of 2020 for updated information about next year's award. Applications, instructions, and additional information about this scholarship can be found online at the Greater Worcester Community Foundation website. To apply for the December 3rd Scholarship, students must complete the online scholarship application form. All applications will also require the student to upload a copy of current transcripts for all academic coursework completed at their current school, as well as a letter of recommendation from a teacher, employer, or other adult community leader who is familiar with the applicant. All applications and supporting documents must be received online no later than the deadline date.
