Arizona State University is a pretty nice school . It is known for its innovation and competitive football games. The campus is large and well spaced out, I imagine walking from class to class can be a time challenge. It is not hard to find other affordable food places because there are restaurants nearby.

Arizona State is overrall amazing! I just finished my first year and feel like this University has so many resources that have opened up a lot of opportunities towards my future career. Not only am I constantly being challenged, but I am also having fun while doing so. I couldn't think of any other place I would call my second home.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Overall I think Arizona State University is an exceptional institute to pursue higher education. Arizona State is home to Barrett, the Honors College, a highly accredited honors college around the country. On top of that, ASU is ranked #1 in the country for Innovation, besting both Stanford and MIT. The school offers a multitude of majors, so every student can find something they are interested in. The number of research opportunities, internships, and other programs to help students make the most of their 4 years here are better than any other college I looked at while applying. When it comes to academics, I truly believe that it is very difficult to find a University that offers more to their students. Aside from the academics, Arizona State University and Tempe, Arizona offers a night life unlike anywhere else. Mill Avenue runs alongside the campus and is home to a variety of different shops, restaurants, and bars, and Tempe Marketplace is only a 5 minute drive away. ASU is part of the Pac-12 in the NCAA and is always competitive in their athletics. The football games are always highly anticipated and the student body goes all out. We may not have the best teams in the country, but we make for some of the most memorable experiences during college. When it comes to academics, life outside of school, and preparation for the future, Arizona State University is a leading institution, and nobody would regret making the decision to come here.

Arizona State is allowing me to further pursue my career in integrative and holistic medicine. The curriculum is giving me the foundation I need to succeed in my career as an acupuncturist with the understanding of the human form, ethics and the etiquette needed to treat patients with the proper care they deserve. This is a great opportunity for those who prefer to treat patients with a more natural approach as the demand for this particular resource will increase in the future.

I really like attending Arizona State, I'm on the Downtown campus. The downtown campus doesn't offer many extracurriculars but some teachers are good and some are bad just like any school. It's a beautiful campus but the homeless people all around cause lots of problems.

It is an exceptional school. The online program is convenient for my situation. I do not live in Arizona but I have taken classes there. The online program is innovative and contact with your professor is just a click away. I can travel, have time on the weekend to hang with friends because I live a flexible life.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Feel very mislead upon what I expected from Arizona State University upon considering this school and what I have personally experienced. I am a first year student in the Architecture program here at ASU as well as the Barrett Honors college. I came to ASU largely because of what the Barrett honors college promised to offer me. As it currently stands the Barrett honors college is not universally useful to all majors and disciplines. The Barrett honors college was designed to specifically to tend to the needs of liberal arts majors and for other disciplines it fails to show what major benefits it actually offers. When talking to advisors they will tell you the same things about how the honors projects and final thesis projects will put you ahead of the others in your major, however in the architecture programs and many other programs there is already a final project or thesis project that will be combined with the Barrett final thesis at the end of the four years. For architecture and other design degrees I would advise that you avoid the Barrett honors college or take advantage of the housing by dropping the Barrett within the first week of school in order to avoid the lousy design dorms ASU provides. As for the architecture program here when deciding to attend ASU I was under the impression that ASU had an accredited architecture degree, disappointingly their program is not accredited so you will have to get a 2 year masters degree in order to practice architecture. Why the largest public research university in the United States does not provide an accredited architecture program dumbfounds me and I am just learning about this after attending this school for one semester. I plan to transfer to a school with an accredited program so that I do not waste my time getting an unaccredited degree even though I may have to take an extra year of undergraduate classes for my architecture degree. I genuinely feel deceived by the ASU admissions about what my education would entail. As a social university this school definitely excels in that there are always a number of events and various groups to become involved with. The campus is very busy most weekdays for having such a large student population contained within a relatively small campus. Expect a very loud environment throughout most of the week from overly loud motorcycles and cars or sirens. People not from large cities should definitely take this into consideration. For football games expect temperatures over 100F throughout the majority of the season. Basketball games are usually very fun despite their poor attendance. The schools location is very urban but provides easy access to the airport, as an out-of-state student this is very convenient. Close to Scottsdale I frequently go to Scottsdale to escape Tempe. Lots of easy weekend adventures are possible once temperatures start to fall in November and are easily accessible with many destinations within an 90 minute drive away. Would highly recommend doing intensive research about your chosen academic program before deciding to attend this university. This school is also definitely a commuter campus which is extremely disappointing, many commuter students feel inconvenienced to go to class some days as it is “too much work” or “too far” or “a waste of their gas” and will leave you alone for group projects or request you to get their attendance signed in. If a student feels the need to save money by commutting they should not complain about having to pay the cost of commuting to campus every day. The fact that ASU is a commuter school truly lowers the quality of education here. If ASU costs too much for you to live on campus please just go to a community college instead to save your money there. ASU is really trying to increase their educational reputation but I’m not sure how they plan to do that if they continue to accept anybody especially people who are not willing to live on campus. If you're an out of state student I would definitely advise going elsewhere. There are so many better options out there with a better residential life and community. If you're considering Architecture and want to go to school in Arizona go to University of Arizona they have an accredited degree and aren't a commuter school. I am transferring to either University of Oregon or University of Colorado Boulder next year.
