Not only do you get to meet people all over the country at Auburn but you also meet people all over the world. The life experiences and conversations you encounter with your fellow Auburn Tigers is something you do not learn in text books. It is one of the best things about going to Auburn.

My classmates are very sociable, and most often resemble exactly what people would describe as "southern hospitality." They are very friendly and genuinely interested in getting to know those around them. I have never been turned down or given a cold shoulder if I ask a classmate for help. People love going to school at Auburn, and are happy to share the experience with those around them. My classmates have undoubtedly made my first year of college better than I ever imagined it could be.

Despite what people may think, Auburn is a very diverse campus. I have met people who lie on both ends of the political spectrum and come from very different socio-economic status. I've met people who are Christians, Hindu, or have no religious affiliation. While most students are mostly from the south, I've met people from Connecticut, Alaska, Ohio, and California. Auburn students are very tolerant from my experience, as I've never heard of any racial discrimination or hatred towards LGBT people.

saketh

You get to see all kinds of students. We are a group of 30,000!

Let's face it, the entire state of Alabama is not a very supportive state if you are brown skinned. Just look at the new immigration bill that they have passed. I have been stopped two times driving to campus just because I was brown. I wasn't breaking any laws or speeding. The only reason they pulled me over was because I was brown and they wanted to check my immigration status even though I was a U.S. citizen. This university is far from diverse. I came from Florida and the University of Florida was a diverse place, Auburn is very homogeneous. Everyone is white with a sprinkling of blacks and a handful of Asians and Hispanics that you will see every once and a while. Most the people at Auburn talk the same, dress the same, act the same and look the same. If I said, that white guy wearing the Columbia fishing shirt and khaki shorts, I would be talking about the majority of guys on campus. Most of the students I have met seemed very small minded and didn't care or were knowledgeable about the outside World. All they cared about was staying in Alabama and Auburn football.

Kellie

Auburn students are the nicest and most welcoming people you will ever meet, but some of them have their head in the clouds.

Laura

Rich! A third of the students are from Georgia and are passing up free in-state tuition to attend here because either their parents did, (tradition is annoyingly emphasized) the school is pretty, farther away than UGA or GATech, the party scene is better, and so on. I don't get it. Students are generally accepting of one another, though different "types" certainly don't interact. Most students are offensively conservative, and I say this as a political moderate. Girls mostly just gossip, guys mostly just talk about the girls they hooked up with over the weekend. Stimulating conversation.

Jonathan

They are some of the most amazing people i have evr met and are some of the most supportive classmates i hav ever had, i wouldn't trade them for any other person in the world.

Diverse. There are people here from every state in the US, and a lot of different countries. In the larger major programs, you might have as many as 400-500 students, and although there's obviously a LOT of Alabamians, there's also a lot of people from COMPLETELY different backgrounds, racially, ethnically, even socially. It's amazing.
